Chondroitin: the “sponge” in your joint tissue

Another substance that your body uses as a natural building block to repair damaged cartilage is Chondroitin.  Chondroitin actually acts as a building block for many of your body’s tissues. However, its role in maintaining healthy connective tissue is particularly relevant for osteoarthritis sufferers.

In addition to being a cartilage building block, Chondroitin also acts as a “fluid magnet”.   1. Check the type of Glucosamine in the product: there are two major types, and Glucosamine sulfate is one that has been shown to be effective in most of the research.
  2. Check how much of each ingredient is in your daily dose: most osteoarthritis sufferers need at least 1500mg of pure Glucosamine daily to get a therapeutic dose. If a product provides less than this, you may need to take more than one dose a day.
  3. Check the product format: the format of the product (capsule, tablet or powder) won’t affect how well it works.  But if you have a personal preference, it may well affect how pleasant you find it to take.
